The purpose of the exhaust manifold is to collect exhausts from each cylinder and route them into the exhaust system. The manifold has to be sealed type and free from damage and corrosion. A damaged exhaust manifold can cause an array of problems. Most notably, exhaust fumes (CO2) can enter the car and cause drowsiness or even death. So, keep an eye out for any signs of it failing.
