The fuel pump is a vital part of your car’s engine system. It is responsible for pumping fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel injectors, which then inject the fuel as needed into the engine cylinders. Having a failing fuel pump will cause many problems, here are some symptoms to look out for.
What to Look Out For
- The engine won’t start – this is the most obvious one, but if fuel is not reaching your engine to get it started, then it could be the fuel pump.
- Weaker engine – engines need to burn a lot of fuel when power is needed. If you are noticing a difference in power, it could be the fuel pump.
- Engine misfire – this will also cause the Check Engine light to illuminate.
