How Often Should I Change My Oil in Dallas and Houston?

That will depend on the make and model of your vehicle. Audi, for instance, generally recommends an oil change every 10,000 miles or every 12 months – Whichever one comes first. With a Land Rover, it’s going to be every 7500 to 10,000 miles.

Common Issues That Arise When Oil Isn’t Regularly Changed in Dallas and Houston

Not getting your oil changed can kill your engine, and it can happen faster than you might think. Below are some examples of what happens when oil is left on it’s own for a little too long, just to give you an idea of how essential your oil is to your engine:

  • Increased wear and tear on your engine – Without proper lubrication, you’re going to have a lot of parts rubbing together and creating friction in the process. This can wear down parts quickly and cost you a pretty penny if it’s not dealt with quickly.
  • Overheating – All that friction and heat isn’t good to keep around your combustion chamber, where heat is supposed to be controlled on a granular level. This puts a lot of pressure on valves, pistons, and other components and your vehicle is going to overheat. If it happens once, don’t wait – You’ll want to get this looked at right away.
  • Corrosion – Aside from lubrication, oil also coats metal and helps to keep corrosion at bay. Without it, you could end up with rusty parts and that’s definitely not good for your engine.
  • Blockage – Oil that isn’t changed for long periods of time gets dirty, and when it’s no longer 100% oil, it’s going to be dropping off some sediment from time to time. After a while, this can cause blockage and the results are unpleasant (to say the very least!).
  • You might void your warranty – Even if you manage to avoid some of the worst problems, failing to change your oil on the manufacturer’s recommended schedule may result in voiding your warranty – often when you’re just finding out that you might need it!

European Service Center Oil Change FAQ

How will I know when I need an oil change?

Your vehicle’s owner’s manual will tell you exactly when you should be getting an oil change, but if you’ve lost it or you’re just curious, there are certainly things you can watch out for. Ticking or knocking from the engine, for instance, could mean there’s a problem with your oil.

Smelling oil in your vehicle is another sign, and if you notice a leak and the oil seems dirty and darker than usual then it’s high time to get it switched out and a new filter to boot.

Does an oil change always include the filter?

Yes, an oil change includes a filter change, and it’s just good sense. After all, that filter has a hard job, and now that you’ve got brand-new, clean oil, there’s no reason to start things off on the wrong foot by leaving in a dirty filter.

An oil change basically consists of draining the old oil, replacing the filter, and refilling it with the good stuff – Anything else just wouldn’t be right!

What happens if you don't change your oil?

If you keep forgetting to change your oil, then it might well cost you your vehicle. Oil is necessary to make sure that all those moving parts inside your sleek European vehicle are getting properly lubricated and that friction is being kept to a minimum.

Without it, things can go south with your engine in record time, so don’t forget to get your oil changed at the proper intervals or even better – Leave it up to us. At European Service Center, we’ll make sure that you get your oil changed and just the right amount of preventative maintenance to ensure that you’ll be enjoying your finely-engineered European vehicle well into the foreseeable future!
