Common Issues That Arise When Oil Isn’t Regularly Changed in Dallas and Houston
Not getting your oil changed can kill your engine, and it can happen faster than you might think. Below are some examples of what happens when oil is left on it’s own for a little too long, just to give you an idea of how essential your oil is to your engine:
- Increased wear and tear on your engine – Without proper lubrication, you’re going to have a lot of parts rubbing together and creating friction in the process. This can wear down parts quickly and cost you a pretty penny if it’s not dealt with quickly.
- Overheating – All that friction and heat isn’t good to keep around your combustion chamber, where heat is supposed to be controlled on a granular level. This puts a lot of pressure on valves, pistons, and other components and your vehicle is going to overheat. If it happens once, don’t wait – You’ll want to get this looked at right away.
- Corrosion – Aside from lubrication, oil also coats metal and helps to keep corrosion at bay. Without it, you could end up with rusty parts and that’s definitely not good for your engine.
- Blockage – Oil that isn’t changed for long periods of time gets dirty, and when it’s no longer 100% oil, it’s going to be dropping off some sediment from time to time. After a while, this can cause blockage and the results are unpleasant (to say the very least!).
- You might void your warranty – Even if you manage to avoid some of the worst problems, failing to change your oil on the manufacturer’s recommended schedule may result in voiding your warranty – often when you’re just finding out that you might need it!
