Tesla Service and Repair in Alpharetta, GA and Plano, TX

3-year/36,000-mile nationwide limited warranty

Tesla owners hear “no maintenance” and take it literally. Then the tires are done at 22,000 miles, the brake fluid has been quietly absorbing moisture for five years, and the A/C smells like a basement. Electric cars removed the oil change. They didn’t remove everything else. Tesla service at European Service Center is available at two shops — Alpharetta in north Atlanta and Plano in north Dallas — and both have been doing European and import work since well before EVs showed up.

Tesla Dropped Fixed Service Intervals, but Not the Service

Tesla moved to as-needed maintenance in 2019, which is not the same as no maintenance. The company still publishes intervals for the things that wear, and they’re easy to miss because nothing on the screen nags you about them the way a fuel car would.

Brake fluid gets tested for moisture contamination roughly every four years. Cabin air filters run every two years on Model 3 and Y, every three on S and X. Neither is expensive. But both get skipped for a decade, because nobody’s watching the odometer for an oil change anymore, and nothing on the screen reminds them.

The Audi Repairs We See Most in North Texas and Atlanta

Carbon buildup leads the pack. Direct-injection 2.0T and 3.0T engines coke up the intake valves over time, and the fix is a walnut-blast cleaning — routine for us, rough on a neglected motor. Timing chain tensioners on the early 2.0T are the one you don’t ignore; a failed tensioner can wreck the engine.

Then the usual suspects: water pumps and thermostats, oil consumption on the EA888 four-cylinder, and DSG mechatronic service that gets skipped until the shifts turn clumsy. Quattro drivelines need attention too.

Regenerative Braking Hides Problems Instead of Preventing Them

Tesla pads last a long time because regen does most of the slowing — which means the hardware sits unused and seizes. Calipers stick. Slide pins dry out, and rotors surface-rust through a humid Georgia summer on a car that barely touches them.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating the calipers where winter road salt is a factor. In Atlanta and Dallas, the salt isn’t the issue; the sitting is. Either way, the fix is the same, and it’s cheap compared to a seized caliper cooking a rotor.

The A/C Desiccant Bag Is the Service Nobody Knows About

Every Tesla has a desiccant bag that keeps moisture out of the A/C system, and it’s on a replacement schedule. Model S and X run three years. Model 3 and Y run four. Miss it, and moisture works into the system, which is how you end up with weak cooling and a smell you can’t get rid of.

Do it before summer, not during. A Texas July is a bad time to discover your air conditioning has been slowly failing since March.

Air Suspension and Control Arms Are Ordinary Repairs on an Extraordinary Car

Model S and Model X air suspension leaks and sags like any other air system, and the control arms and bushings wear like any other heavy car’s. A knock over expansion joints on GA-400 or a car that settles overnight in the driveway both point the same direction.

None of this needs a Tesla-specific miracle. It needs a lift, a technician who knows suspension geometry, and honest advice about whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.

Alpharetta and Plano — the Two Shops That Take Tesla

Tesla work is booked at Alpharetta, GA, and Plano/North Dallas, TX only. Alpharetta sits on Tidwell Drive just off GA-400, which puts it inside a reasonable drive for Johns Creek, Milton, Cumming, and most of north Fulton. Plano is up Preston Road and covers Frisco, Richardson, and the northern Dallas suburbs.

If you’re closer to one of our other seven shops, call ahead rather than driving over, because those locations are set up for European marques and don’t take Tesla work. Worth the phone call.

Tesla Service and Repair FAQs

Do Teslas need maintenance?

Yes, just not oil changes. Tires, brake fluid, cabin air filters, the A/C desiccant bag, suspension and the 12-volt system all wear on a schedule. Tesla publishes intervals for each.

How often should Tesla tires be rotated?

About every 6,250 miles, or sooner if the tread is approaching 2/32″. Instant torque and battery weight wear tires faster than most owners expect.

Can an independent shop work on a Tesla without voiding the warranty?

Yes. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can’t void a warranty because an independent did the maintenance, provided the work meets spec. Keep your invoices.

Do you repair Tesla battery packs or body damage?

No. High-voltage pack work, collision and body repair, and Autopilot or software faults go to Tesla. We handle the mechanical, electrical, and wear items around them.

Where can I get a Tesla serviced near Atlanta?

Our Alpharetta shop on Tidwell Drive, just off GA-400. It’s one of only two European Service Center locations that take Tesla work.
