The water pump is a vital part of your engine cooling system. It is responsible for circulating the engine coolant throughout the engine. So a failing water pump can cause serious problems. Luckily, the signs of a failing water pump are obvious.
What to Look Out For
- Engine overheating – if engine coolant is not being circulated correctly, your engine is at risk for overheating.
- Heater not working – your car’s heater relies on warm/hot coolant, and since the coolant is not being pumped, your heater is not working.
- Low levels of coolant – failing water pumps usually have leaks, and you may notice a puddle of coolant under your car.
