The Lamborghini Huracan Performante was first released last year (2017) with great success. But this year, Lamborghini gives us the Huracan Performante Spyder. Removing the roof knocked off 35 kgs. (77 lbs.), and they added another 30 horsepower. So not only is it lighter, but it is more powerful than the 2017 model. But, has anything else improved over last year’s model?

The Engine – Raw Power

Lamborghini is known for their futuristic designs, but they are especially known for their naturally-aspirated engines. The Huracan Performante Spyder has a 5.2 Liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine, putting out 631 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Transferring this amazing power to the wheels is a 7-speed twin clutch automatic transmission, propelling this masterpiece to 62 Mph in 3.1 seconds, and a top speed of 201 Mph.

The Body – Super-light, yet Super-strong

Lamborghini calls their version of carbon fiber, Forged Composite Material. A material made completely in-house by Lamborghini that is light, strong, and shapeable. The forged composite material is indeed a revolutionary process of constructing carbon fiber into moldable rolls. Making the process cheaper and quicker.

The Performance

A new addition to the Huracan Performante Spyder is the Lamborghini Active Aerodynamics (ALA) technology. There are flaps in the front spoiler and the rear wing that can reduce drag or increase downforce based on information relied on a multitude of sensors. Another ingenious creation of Lamborghini, the ALA system is helping Lamborghini beat out its own (and others) records on racing tracks.
