How Often Should I Be Getting My Suspension Checked in Dallas and Houston?

This depends on the vehicle. For instance, with Audi, it’s usually every 40,000 miles, although with many other models it could be every 50,000 miles. It’s best to defer to the manufacturer’s instructions, although if you don’t like going through the manual, you can always leave the homework to us!

What Are the Most Common Suspension Issues in Dallas and Houston?

With European vehicles, you’ve got shock and strut systems that are designed to noticeably enhance the ‘glide of your ride’, but they do need special attention to keep performing at their best. Here are some of the most common issues that we see with these vehicles:

  • Worn suspension bushings – Bushings are made of things like rubber, polyurethane, and nylon, and your control arms use them to help absorb damage and prevent metal on metal contact. Ball joints, shock absorbers, tie rods, and other components also utilize them and they’re something that should be checked so that they don’t wear down and compromise your suspension. If you happen to feel anything odd with your suspension bushings while driving through Alpharetta or Atlanta Piedmont then step in at our garages located nearby to get the bushings inspected by our professional mechanics.
  • Damaged or degraded springs – Coil springs help your car to absorb shocks and when they’re pretty significant, they also help it to bounce back into perfect, level balance while protecting the folks inside. Over time, normal wear and tear or other factors like fluid leaks, corrosion, and issues with your tires can take their toll. Regular inspection of these springs is a must and any shop worth their weight is going to be sure to check these to ensure the health of your suspension. The damaged or degraded springs can take a toll on the performance of your car & having them inspected & fixed at our facilities in Dallas Cedar Springs or Dallas Tracy St while returning from work is a wise move.

European Service Center Suspension FAQ

How often should my car’s suspension be changed?

That’s going to depend on the make and model, but as an example, if you drive an Audi A4, A6, A8, S4, S6 or S8 or Q series, then you should get your suspension inspected right at the 40,000 mile mark. It might not need replacing yet, but with as important a component as your suspension, it’s best to stick with the manufacturer’s recommendations and bring it in for a checkup.

What is the most important part of the car’s suspension system?

No matter how fancy the suspension on your vehicle might be, the parts that do all the heavy lifting are going to be the springs. Every time you roll across the road, a network of coil and leaf springs is hard at work keeping your ride smooth and absorbing shocks that might otherwise devastate your vehicle and its frame.

How do I know if my car’s suspension is good?

If you suspect there is a problem, then it’s best to get your vehicle to an expert. With that said, a simple test you can do is just to push all of your weight on the bonnet of your vehicle and see how many times it bounces. If it’s more than 3, you’ve likely got a problem.

If your vehicle isn’t perfectly level, that’s another sign of a suspension issue, and feeling rocks and bumps along your way that you weren’t noticing before is also a telltale sign that it’s time for a checkup.
